- WM> Is there any DAT hardware or software for the Amiga?
-
- yes there is. i use a hewlett packard hp35470a scsi dat drive (max 2gb per
- tape without compression) since 2 years. backup speed is 10-12mbyte per
- minute incl. verify. i guess every dat streamer with scsi interface should be
- ok.
-
- my streamer has been connected to an amiga 2000 with gvp series ii scsi
- hostadapter, an amiga 3000 with internal scsi hostadapter and an amiga 500
- with a590 (it`s a real party mix dave) scsi adapter. worked in any case
- without problems (20-25 gb backuped yet). just plug and play hehehe.
-
- suggested software is amiback 2.0i or quarterback 6.0 for making several
- backups on one tape.
-
- you can`t play or record audio dat tapes. sgi does, amiga won`t.
-
- never use this "backup on audio dat recorder" solutions. no automatic verify,
- no automatic search, lots of trouble if audio tape is corrupt.
